Is 8.3 lbs attainable?

I just sat down and looked at the calendar and the calculator. I realized that in order to meet my weight loss goals I have to lose 8.3lbs a week for the next 19 weeks. Is that even possible? This got me thinking that I don't even know what is attainable and what's not.

Anyone have suggestions for me? Books or online resources? Help!

I would say no - that's not reasonable. Even on The biggest loser, most of the women lose an average of 5 pounds a week, and that's with 6 hours of working out every day!
If you're looking for advice - eat well, track your food, get some exercise, and expect to lose about 1 to 2 pounds a week.

I agree with Jenn. I would say that 8 pounds in a week is not reasonable. But I think that as long as you are doing everything right you should just be happy with what you lose and don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just eating right and exercising is hard and something you should be proud of : )

I usually lose about three pounds a week but that is only if I stay completely on track and work out everyday.

Good luck : )

I don't think it's attainable but lucky for you the math is wrong :) You only have to lose 1.8lbs a week for the next 18 weeks to be @ 125

Good luck! I know how hard it is to lose those lbs!

That is quite a bit. I think making the goal more attainable...and then surpassing your goal from time to time will make you more successful. When I set goals too high or big I tend to lose steam faster. Plus you might find that you gain muscle weight...and won't it be more about how you feel and fit!

I am going to join in on MONDAY! If you don't hear from me ...send me an email and tell me to get my ass in gear! I am similar to your story - which by the way - is inspiring since you are so open.
